Food Security: Information and Resources
The "Public Health Security and Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act of 2002" (the Bioterrorism Act) was signed into law on June 12, 2002. The Bioterrorism Act includes provisions designed to protect the U.S. food supply from acts of bioterrorism or intentional contamination. Regulations both final and proposed address automatic detention of foods, registration of food facilities, establishment and maintenance of food records and prior notice of imported food shipments.
NCA supports responsible efforts to protect the nation’s food supply, and encourages its members to review the provisions listed below that may have applicability to their plants, production and distribution facilities and operations.
