October 8: Halloween Candy Sales Projected at $2 Billion

VIENNA, VA — Halloween candy sales are projected to reach $2 billion this year, up from $1.99 billion last year, according to the NCA.
Additionally, a National Retail Federation (NRF) survey of more than 7,600 households shows consumers expect to spend an average $14.83 for Halloween candy, up from $14.41 last year. The average consumer expects to spend $43.57 on all Halloween items, including costumes and decorations. That number rose from $41.77 last year.
Total Halloween spending is estimated to reach $3.12 billion, up from $2.96 billion in 2003, according to the NRF poll.
