September 22: Candy Campaigns On Ad Walk Of Fame

New York — The M&M’s spokescharacters and advertising slogans for M&M’s, Almond Joy and Mounds were honored this week when named to the new Madison Avenue Ad Walk of Fame. According to a national online poll of 600,000 people by the American Association of Advertising Agencies, the talking candies received 22 percent of the vote and will be honored along with the Aflac duck, Mr. Peanut, Tony the Tiger and Poppin’ Fresh — the Pilsbury Doughboy.

The M&M’s slogan “Melts in your mouth, not in your hands” received 17 percent of the vote; Almond Joy and Mounds’ “Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don’t” received nine percent of the vote.

A series of events are being held this week to recognize the role that the advertising industry plays in New York City. Yesterday, a ceremony was held to name the five characters and slogans to Walk of Fame.
